About the Owner

From Rylie Haack, Founder and Head Pastry Chef

I was diagnosed with Celiac while I was in college and found it very hard to eat, as our cafeteria did not have many gluten free products.  The kitchen staff was seriously fantastic (I went to a tiny school) and worked with me to create GF meals, but dessert was left up to me.

I loved to bake from a very young age and I've always loved a challenge, so I began baking GF in the dorms and later in my first college apartment.

That landed me the nickname Ryliecakes, as I was always bringing leftovers to class, sending them to work with my friends, and college boyfriend.  So, after college I decided to give baking a shot as a career and I went to culinary school. This totally wasn't like me - I was studying math and economics in college and being a pastry chef was more of an artsy, creative career.  Needless to say, I LOVED it.

When given the opportunity to open RylieCakes, I jumped at it!!

There is nothing I love more than seeing a group of ladies come in to knit, crochet, spin, or simply chit chat while they eat some gluten free goodies & drink a cup of coffee/tea.
